The ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition – Hong Kong was first co-organised by the Department of Justice and the International Chambers of Commerce – Hong Kong in October 2018.
The ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition – Hong Kong focuses on mediation advocacy skills in international commercial mediation and is open to local and overseas university students. Professional mediators are invited to participate as voluntary judges or mediators. The competition provides an excellent opportunity to educate the next generation on the benefits of mediation while enhancing Hong Kong’s status as the leading centre for international legal and dispute resolution services in the Asia-Pacific region.
Since its inception, the competition has grown steadily in scale and reach. The second competition was held virtually in November 2020, featuring 20 university teams from 9 jurisdictions. The third competition was held in December 2024 with 18 university teams from 6 jurisdictions. The fourth competition was successfully held in November 2025, attracting over 40 university teams from multiple jurisdictions competed together. The champion team of each edition advanced to the annual ICC Mediation Competition held at the ICC global headquarters in Paris.
The 2026 ICC-HK International Commercial Mediation Competition will be held in November – December 2026.
