Secretary for Justice to visit Chongqing

The Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC, will visit Chongqing from tomorrow (September 8) to September 10 to attend the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Chinese Judicial Studies Association and its Second Summit on Chinese Judicial Studies.

Established by the China Association of Judges and related academic institutions, the Chinese Judicial Studies Association is a professional academic institute which mainly focuses on the studies of jurisprudence, judicial systems and practice across the strait and in the Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions. Under the theme of "Transformation in Justice in a Changing Society", the Second Summit on Chinese Judicial Studies will examine the continuation of traditional Chinese legal culture, the safeguarding of the rule of law under the Belt and Road Initiative, judicial reform and public confidence, as well as modernisation of judicial systems and justice. Mr Yuen will speak at the closing ceremony of the summit.

During his stay in Chongqing, Mr Yuen will meet with the President of the Supreme People's Court, Mr Zhou Qiang.

Mr Yuen will return to Hong Kong in the evening on September 10.
