Andrew Mak was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 1987. He was admitted to full practice at the Hong Kong Bar in 1989, and also the Australian and the Singapore Bar.

He currently practised from Sir Oswald Cheung QC’s Chambers. He has enjoyed a broad practice in civil and commercial law, including in the areas of property law, commercial contracts, international trade disputes, professional disciplinary proceedings, and constitutional and administrative law.

He is an accredited Mediator and also practises in arbitration. He has been sitting as Chairman or Vice-Chairman on various appeal tribunals, such as a Chairman of the Building Appeals Tribunal, Deputy Chairman of the Licensing Appeals Board and the Administrative Appeals Board. He sat for two 3-year terms as a member of the Inland Revenue Board of Review.

Since 2006 he became the Chairman of the Special Committee on Mainland Affairs of the Bar Council of the Hong Kong Bar Association, and he is also Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar’s Special Committee on Planning and Policy. He is a director of the Coalition of Professional Services of Hong Kong.

He sat for 6 years with the Insurance Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Government. Currently he is a Council member of the Hong Kong Productivity Council.
