Elected as President of the Law Society of Hong Kong in 2012, Dieter leads the 20-member Council. He first joined the Council in 2003 and had served as chairman of the Standing Committee on Standards and Development, Legal Education Committee and Consents Committee as well as serving as member of the Securities Law Committee and Trainee Solicitors Committee.

Apart from practicing as a Hong Kong solicitor since 1989, Dieter was admitted to practise as a solicitor in England and Wales, Australian Capital Territories, New South Wales and Singapore. Dieter heads the Hong Kong law practice of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, and focuses on advising on capital markets, corporate finance, private equity investments and public and private M&A in Hong Kong, mainland China and across the Asian region. Dieter has served on the board of directors of several listed companies in Hong Kong and on various statutory bodies and advisory committees.
