Senior Counsel, admitted as a barrister in Hong Kong (1984) and UK (Middle Temple) (1988), and to the Inner Bar of Hong Kong (2006). She graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1983 with an LLB (Hons) degree, obtained the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws in 1984, and was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar the same year. Between 1987 to 1988, she pursued specialised training in London both in the University College, London and the Chambers of Thomas Blanco-White QC now called “8 New Square”, the largest set of Intellectual Property barristers in London. She was tutored and trained under the guidance of eminent figures in the field such as Professor Cornish, Professor Dworkin, and leading practitioners such as Professor Robin Jacob (formerly Lord Justice Jacob and Robin Jacob QC), Lord Justice Kitchin (formerly David Kitchin QC), John Baldwin QC and Mark Platts-Mills QC Upon the completion of her year-long training, she was admitted as a non-resident member of the Chambers which are now situated in 8 New Square, Lincoln’s Inn.

Upon her return to Hong Kong in 1988 to begin her specialised practice, she has advised and represented the Government and numerous major corporations and institutions holding intellectual property rights, including in the manufacturing, music, film, broadcasting, fashion, jewellery, advertising, computer, publishing, food and beverage, construction, pharmaceutical, character merchandising and hi-tech industries. She has conducted local and regional litigation on patents, trade marks, trade names, copyright, designs, and trade secrets and has advised regularly on regional strategy and planning on the exploitation and protection of intellectual property rights. She has appeared in well-known intellectual property cases in Hong Kong many of which are reported. She is now considered one of the leading practitioners and advocates in the field in Hong Kong, and is a contributing author of the leading textbook in the region, “Intellectual Property Rights Hong Kong SAR and People’s Republic of China”.
