Capital of Mediation: You are the Future

In order to instill a positive and constructive attitude towards conflict resolution, the Department of Justice (“DoJ”) has organised events with themes related to peer mediation, such as essay competitions and school mediation seminars. Building on the success of previous events, the DoJ, along with the Education Bureau, Asia Conflict Resolution Institute Limited, and Rotary International District 3450, will collaborate again to co-organise the Mediation Essay Competition 2026 (the “Competition”).

The Competition is open to all secondary school students in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area1 in the academic year of 2025-26. The Competition aims to invite young minds to explore the vital role of mediation and mediation skills in building a harmonious and peaceful society and join hands to shape Hong Kong’s future as the capital of mediation. We hope that the youth will be equipped with mediation knowledge from a young age and this will ensure a sustainable foundation for peace and prosperity for our city.
