Application for the 2nd Edition of “Belt and Road” Visit for Hong Kong Young International Legal Talents is now open and will close on 27 February 2026 (Hong Kong time).

Background

The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the Hong Kong International Legal Talents Training Academy of the Department of Justice will jointly organise the 2nd Edition of “Belt and Road” Visit for Hong Kong Young International Legal Talents from 18 to 24 July 2026 (tentative).

The preliminary itinerary includes a visit to Yunnan Province in China, followed by a visit to Laos. Participants will engage in exchanges with relevant government departments, legal institutions and organisations, enterprises, and chambers of commerce, and will gain firsthand understanding of the “Belt and Road” landmark cooperation projects such as the China-Laos Railway. The visit will allow young legal professionals from Hong Kong to better understand the regional legal practices, multilateral cooperation mechanisms, and the fruitful outcomes of China-Laos cooperation, while appreciating the significance of the “Belt and Road” Initiative for China and the countries along the “Belt and Road”.

Application Procedures

Any legal professional who is eligible and interested in participating in the 2nd Edition of “Belt and Road” Visit for Hong Kong Young International Legal Talents should complete the Application Form (Chinese version only), and submit the completed form, relevant supporting documents and personal statement by email to the Hong Kong International Legal Talents Training Office of the Department of Justice: hkiltto@doj.gov.hk, with a copy to The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China: ocmfa_dtl@mfa.gov.cn on or before 27 February 2026 (Hong Kong time).

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview, tentatively scheduled for March 2026. The specific date, time and arrangements will be notified individually via email at a later stage.
