Hong Kong boasts world-class legal infrastructure and professionals engaging in diversified businesses with close links to the international community. Building on the success of the Hong Kong Legal Services Forum held in Shanghai in 2010, the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government joins hands with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Bar Association, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (Asia Office) to hold the second Hong Kong Legal Services Forum in Guangzhou on 13 September 2012.
Featuring the theme “Hong Kong Legal Services – Think Global, Think Hong Kong”, the second Forum will highlight the vital role Hong Kong plays as a legal services and dispute resolution centre, as well as the assistance that the Hong Kong legal and arbitration professions can provide to Mainland enterprises that are “going global”.
The Forum will bring together experienced Hong Kong practising solicitors, barristers and arbitrators with abundant international exposure to explore various practical legal issues. A mock arbitration will also be organised to demonstrate dispute resolution by way of arbitration and a case study will be conducted to examine legal issues that Mainland enterprises may encounter in mergers and acquisitions.
