“Mediate First” Pledge Event

The “Mediate First” Pledge campaign was launched by the Department of Justice (“DoJ”) in 2009 to promote the use of mediation in resolving disputes. The campaign encourages individuals, companies and organisations to commit to exploring mediation before resorting to other dispute resolution processes, including court litigation. To date, more than 1,000 individuals, companies and organisations have made the pledge.

The “Mediate First” Pledge event (the “MFP Event”) is a biennial flagship event of the DoJ which aims to promote mediation, celebrate the achievements of pledgees and welcome new pledgees.

The MFP Event has also been held outside Hong Kong to extend the promotion of mediation regionally and internationally. It was held in Shanghai and Shenzhen in 2019, and in Thailand in 2023, receiving an enthusiastic response and attracting more pledgees.
